How do I change the base currency of my account?
If you would like an account denominated in a different currency, please follow the steps below to open a new account in the desired currency. *You cannot change the currency on an existing account, you must open a new account in the new desired currency. Funds can be transferred between existing accounts if desired.
- Login to www.myfxcm.com
- From the menu, choose Account Settings->Add New Account
- Under “Reason for Additional Account” select “Additional Base Currency”
- Under “Choose Option”, click on the circle next to the SECOND option “Please create a new account with different login information. You will be able to choose your new account type and base currency upon selecting this option.”. *This option MUST be selected in order to open your new account in a different currency from your current account.
- Click on the circle next to “Yes” or “No” under “Transfer funds from an existing account?” as desired.
-If you choose No, you can still transfer funds at a later time, or directly send a new deposit to the new account at a later time, once the account is created. (You have a maximum of 6 months to do so, after which the empty/dormant account will be closed. We cannot re-open closed accounts.)
-If you choose Yes, select the account number from which you are transferring the funds, and in the next field, enter the amount (denominated in the current/existing account currency) which you want transferred into the new account.
When FXCM processes your request, we will convert the funds from the original currency to the new account currency with a markup at that time (at the time the funds are transferred – not at the time you originally submitted the new account request), according to the most updated rate of the conversion.

$10,000 to $49,999 USD- converted at 100 points from market price.
$50,000 to $100,000 USD- converted at 50 points from market price.
Amounts > $100,000 USD- converted at 10 points from market price.
- Click Submit to confirm that you understand and agree to the terms and conditions laid forth in the Add a New Account Terms and Conditions and send your request to us for processing.
