How do I get the Custom Time Zone and Period in MetaTrader 4?
Custom Time Zone
Besides EURREAL01 and GBPREAL (which are on GMT time), all MetaTrader 4 servers are on New York open and close.
If you would like to have your own time displayed as a yellow indicator on the chart, try the Custom Time Zones app offered by FXCM Apps.
If you change the color in chart background or indicator properties window, you will see the lines like below:
This is because the line serves a purpose in calculating the indicator time zone values but is not meant to be displayed. As a result, the default is black so that it blends into the indicator background.
You can change it from the color tab:
In Terminal window, you can see a tab named “Code Base” .
You can use this tab to access the apps published at the MQL4.community. You can download it and attach to the chart right away.
If you would like to get H6 candles on MetaTrader 4, but MetaTrader 4 does not have this period as default, then you can follow the steps below for the period you need:
Search key word “Period” in the search bar on the right top of MetaTrader 4, you can see the result in the search tab of terminal window, then click “Code Base” ;
Scroll down the page to find the apps you need and click it.
Right click it, there is a menu pop up.
“Download” will install it into your MetaTrader 4 and you can find it in the Navigator windows.
This is a Script, so you can find it in the “Script” group.
Add it into the chart and do not forget to enable “Allow DLL imports”.
Set the “Value” you need and click “OK”.
Then go to find the chart in offline.
MT4 -> File –> Open Offline -> EURUSD H6 -> Open
As EURUSD H1 is the original charts , it cannot be closed or H6 cannot update any more.
- You can also click “Name” column in the “Code Base” window, and scroll down to find “period Converter”, double click it, and it installs
- Codebase has several period changing apps, but only this one is working normally now
